How does air conditioning work?

Air conditioning systems work by rotating interior air, moving hot air from inside to outside the premises. With a central air conditioning system, the air moves through a network of ductwork and coils to reach a condenser, which is a unit located outside the building. While the hot air is on its way to the condenser, refrigerant absorbs the heat from the air. The warmed refrigerant then makes its way to the outside condenser, where its compressed to give off the heat it has absorbed from the inside air. Next, the refrigerant is cooled again inside the condenser, and it’s ready to go back inside to absorb more heat from inside.

Air conditioning is an intricate system with many parts that must be kept clean and functional. When your system is running properly, you can remain happily unaware of everything your air must go through to keep you cool and comfortable.
